| or how to stuff 10lbs of sh*t into a 5 lb sack. OK I need recommendations for a new server rackmount chassis. I've spent the last month trying to get a solution for this problem in the smallest space possible with no luck, even when working with chassis retailers directly. Hopefully one of you has racked up something similar or can make a workable recommendation. 19" rack mount case... depth = whatever it takes 2U with slot riser is preferable (less colo rent), 3U is realistic for these requirements though... Needs to house: 5+ 3.5" drives, internally hidden/externally exposed, doesn't matter the combination. 1 DVDR externally exposed 1 floppy drive externally exposed (optional) 12 x 13 motherboard Up to this point, no biggie. Here's where it hits the fan... We need 750W PSU to run the mess. We have a Thermaltake 750 ATX PSU. It seems all 2U & I'm sketchy on all 3U requiring a PS2 ATX type PSU. Don't tell me they're interchangeable, they are not. There's a lot of misinformation on this out there on the interwebs. Think squares & rectangles... I don't have to reuse the TT PSU, but it's paid for and works fine. My issue with high power PS2 PSUs are they're not available anymore and if they are, the reviews = junk from what I've seen. I'm hoping someone has personal experience with this sort of configuration. We haven't even gotten into riser cards for the 2U, first thing's first though... Click my car below to send me email if you have a recommendation please! Thanks!
